National Night Out returns August 2nd

Mark your calendars! The City of Evans residents will celebrate National Night out with the Evans Police Department on Tuesday evening, August 2nd, 2022. Your neighborhood is invited to participate with many other neighborhoods and businesses across the country in celebration of the partnership between the police and the community.

The City of Evans will host three, city-sponsored events that are free and open to the public. The events will be held at the following times and locations and each event will feature a different type of food.

  • City Park | 5-6:30pm | Hot dogs
  • Welch Park | 6-7:30pm | Pizza
  • Driftwood Park | 5:30-7:30pm | Cold Treats

National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Evans Police Department.

National Night Out is designed to:

-Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.

-Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts.

-Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police/community partnerships.

-Send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and increasingly aware of their surroundings.

Participating neighborhoods nationwide are asked to turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors, citizens, and police. Neighborhoods will be hosting a variety of events ranging from small potlucks and barbeques to large block parties. Some additional event ideas include, but are not limited to, ice cream socials, games, contests, discussing neighborhood issues, setting neighborhood goals, beautifying a common area, discussing or planning a Neighborhood Watch Program. It’s up to you – be creative, have fun and celebrate with your neighbors!

Registration is free, so register your neighborhood for this year’s event today. You do NOT have to be a current Neighborhood Watch neighborhood to participate. National Night Out is for everyone! Register now and begin planning your event as soon as possible.
