August ends in a blaze with the Law Enforcement Torch Run. Law Enforcement agencies in Weld County will team up in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) for Colorado Special Olympics.
The event will be held on the morning of Wednesday, August 31st. It will start in Frederick and then pass-through Johnstown, Milliken, Weld County, Windsor, Greeley, Evans, UNC and end at Island Grove. The Evans PD’s portion is approximately 2.5 miles. They will receive the torch from the Greeley Police Department at 17 Avenue in Evans and run south to 37 Street, east to 11 Avenue, then north to Highway 34 where they will hand the torch to the UNC Police Department.
The LETR engages law enforcement worldwide championing acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, starting first with their own communities. Since its inception, LETR has raised over 900 million dollars and changed millions of attitudes.
