Laura has lived in Evans for over 13 years and has operated a business in Evans for over 30 years on her husband's farm, which has been in the Speer family since 1952.

Laura served on the Evans Planning Commission, the Citizen Police Advisory Council and was an original member of the City's Flood Recovery & Redevelopment Task Force.
