37th Street Phase 2B Project Information
37th Street will be closed in both directions as Phase 2B of the 37th Street widening project will begins on Monday, May 12. Detours through the Tuscany and Ashcroft neighborhoods north of 37th Street will be in place. We ask that motorists use extreme caution and obey speed limits while taking the detour; the neighborhood is home to an elementary school and two community parks so expect pedestrians to be present in the area throughout the day.
This project will see 37th Street widened to two lanes in both directions with a landscaped center median. A designated right turn lane into the Liberty Draw subdivision will also be incorporated into this project. Prior to expanding the land on which the expanded roadway will be laid down, the relocating of utility infrastructure and removal of trees along the shoulders of the current street will take place. Subsequent construction of sidewalks, curb & gutter and the road base will take place, followed by final paving and striping.
The Evans City Council approved the bid, including contingency, of a not-to-exceed amount of $3,971,724.90 from GLH Construction, who will serve as the general contractor for this project. The project was funded in part by the 1% road tax fund approved by Evans voters for road projects in 2020.
Any questions about the project can be posed the City of Evans at 1100 37th Street or by calling (970) 475-1170.
