37th Street Project Update

We are pleased to announce that work on Phase 2B of the 37th Street widening project is progressing on schedule. Throughout June, crews worked to relocate and replace underground utilities as planned to coincide with the project. Sidewalks have been poured in segments on both north and south sides of the roadway and work to get the tract of land to the proper grade were completed.

This week, the initial application of fly-ash, a by-product of coal-fired powerplants that is recycled and used to stabilize the road base and prevent certain types of damage, was applied. Over the next two weeks, plans are to place the road base, prepare and pour curb & gutter and ready the roadway for the surface layers. The City's contract with GLH Construction calls for substantial completion of the project by Nov. 2.

We ask that motorists detouring through the Ashcroft and Tuscany neighborhoods please use caution as pedestrians are frequently present in those areas. Thank you for your patience while we complete the latest phase of this major City project.
