City of Evans Receives GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for Eighth Consecutive Year

For the eighth consecutive year, the City of Evans has received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2026 Operating Budget. This national recognition is awarded to governments that produce budget documents that exceed statutory requirements and function as clear, effective policy and communication tools.

Earning this designation reflects the City’s continued commitment to smart and strong stewardship of taxpayer dollars, as well as transparency, accountability, and alignment between policy priorities and the resources needed to achieve them.

To qualify for the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, a budget must meet rigorous criteria established by GFOA that evaluate how well a budget serves as a financial plan, an operations guide, a policy document, and a communications tool. These standards include clearly presenting strategic goals and priorities, describing major revenues and expenditures, explaining the budget process and financial policies, outlining capital and long-range financial planning, providing performance measures, and ensuring the document is understandable and accessible to the public, and can be accessed here.

The City’s award-winning budget demonstrates:

  • Clear articulation of organization-wide strategic goals and priorities

  • Transparent explanation of how funds are allocated and managed

  • Comprehensive financial schedules and multi-year planning

  • Strong financial policies and responsible fund balance management

  • A user-friendly format designed to help residents understand how their tax dollars are used

These practices support informed decision-making, long-term fiscal stability, and a high level of public trust.

The City of Evans congratulates Chief Financial Officer Jacque Troudt and the Finance team for their continued leadership and dedication to excellence in financial management. Their work ensures Evans remains well-positioned to meet community needs today and into the future.
