City Requests Citizen Feedback as Strategic Planning gets Underway

The Evolution of Evans Strategic Plan

The City of Evans is launching a new strategic plan. During the closing months of 2025, the Evans City Council and city leadership team worked with the consulting firm BerryDunn to lay the foundation for the strategic planning process. Now, as the calendar has shifted 2026, we are actively working to engage with the community.

The City of Evans is committed to broad community engagement throughout the strategic planning process. Residents, businesses, nonprofit and community-based organizations, elected officials, advisory boards, and city staff will all play a role in helping shape the future of the city.

Everyone in the City of Evans will have the opportunity to get involved and share input at key points in the project, helping to shape a plan that reflects the needs, values, and priorities of our entire community. This plan will encompass the whole of the city - police and public safety, public works projects, recreation offerings, parks amenities, relationships with neighboring communities and more.

What is a strategic plan? Why is it important?

Strategic planning is a key process the City of Evans uses to set priorities, focus resources, and guide decision-making for the future. It helps ensure that city departments, employees, and community partners are aligned around shared goals, working toward a common vision, and prepared to adapt to changing needs.

This process allows us to define what the City of Evans stands for, who we serve, what services we provide, and why we do it, all with a focus on long-term impact. Through thoughtful planning, we identify clear actions, track our progress, and measure our success to ensure we are meeting the needs of our residents now and in the future.

We want your input!

We are encouraging residents to view our out strategic planning website - built in coordination with BerryDunn the consulting firm that is working with the city council and administration to build the plan.

On the website, users can post ideas for what they would like to see the city prioritize - more park space, larger investments in transportation infrastructure, expanded recreation offerings, and more. There is no registration required and you can post anonymously if you prefer.

Do you have ideas about what would make Evans a better place to live, work, and play? If so, we want to hear from you!

Another feature available is the budget simulation tool. This will give you the opportunity to balance how to allocate finite resources to city needs.

In February, the Evans City Council, city leadership team and representatives from BerryDunn will use this information provided by our residents to develop the city's vision for the future.
