Road Work on 37th Street to Begin Feb. 3

The City of Evans will begin a series of roadway repairs on 37th Street starting Tuesday, Feb. 3, aimed at addressing a developing sinkhole and improving overall driving conditions along this major corridor.

The first phase of work will focus on repairing a sinkhole that has been forming in the north lane of westbound 37th Street, east of Palermo Drive. That lane will remain closed, as it has been during the initial safety and work-area setup, while crews complete the repair.

Once the sinkhole repair is finished, crews will move into the second phase of the project, which includes mill and overlay work near Sienna Drive. This work will correct a rough and damaged roadway transition in that area. During this phase, motorists should expect temporary lane closures; however, through traffic will remain open at all times, with at least one lane available in each direction.

Both phases of the project are expected to take approximately 10 business days to complete, weather permitting.

The city appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation as this important work is completed. These repairs are necessary to ensure 37th Street meets safety and quality standards and continues to reliably serve the traveling public.
