Evans City Council Approves $1.1 Million Street Maintenance Contract; Work to Begin October 15
The City of Evans is moving forward with its 2026 Street Maintenance Program following City Council's approval of a $1.1 million construction contract at its October 6 meeting. Work is scheduled to begin Thursday, October 15, with improvements planned for several major thoroughfares and residential streets throughout the city.
The City allocated $1.7 million for pavement improvements in its 2026 budget. With the approved construction contract totaling $1.1 million, the remaining approximately $600,000 will be carried forward to support additional street improvements in 2027.
Roadway segments included in this year's program were selected by the City's Engineering Department based on pavement condition scanning conducted in 2025. The assessment helped identify and prioritize streets in need of maintenance.

Traffic Impacts and Resident Notifications
No road closures are anticipated as part of the project, although motorists may encounter construction equipment, crews and temporary traffic disruptions in active work areas.
Temporary, short-term on-street parking restrictions will be necessary in the McNitt Street neighborhood and along Lupton Avenue to accommodate construction activities.
Residents affected by parking restrictions will be contacted directly by the contractor at least 72 hours before work begins in their area, providing advance notice to make alternative parking arrangements.
Investing in Evans' Roadways
Mill and overlay is a pavement maintenance process that removes the worn or deteriorated upper layer of asphalt and replaces it with new pavement. This approach helps extend the useful life of existing roadways, improves driving conditions and reduces the need for more extensive reconstruction.
The 2026 Street Maintenance Program reflects the City's ongoing commitment to maintaining essential infrastructure and making strategic investments in the community's transportation network.
The City appreciates residents' patience and cooperation as these improvements get underway.
