Freedom Dog Park to Temporarily Close Beginning August 10 for Nearby Chevron Decommissioning Work
Beginning Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, Freedom Dog Park will be temporarily closed while Chevron conducts planned decommissioning work on land owned by the City of Evans adjacent to the park.
The temporary closure is necessary to help ensure public safety while work is underway. During the project, residents may also notice an increase in truck traffic in the area.
Chevron has advised the City that all work plans have been reviewed and approved by the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) and have been shared with the City of Evans.
The City appreciates the community's patience and understanding during this temporary closure. The park will reopen once the work has been completed and the area is safe for public use.
