Outdoor Watering Restrictions Begin April 15 in Evans

The City of Evans reminds residents that seasonal outdoor watering restrictions will take effect beginning April 15 and remain in place through October 15, in accordance with Evans Municipal Code §13.04.200. These measures are designed to promote efficient water use, reduce waste, and help maintain a reliable water supply throughout the peak irrigation season.

Watering Schedule

To ensure compliance, residents are asked to follow the designated watering days based on their address:

  • Even-numbered addresses: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday
  • Odd-numbered addresses: Monday, Wednesday, Saturday
  • Multi-family and apartment properties: Sunday, Tuesday, Friday

Time-of-Day Restrictions

Outdoor watering is prohibited between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., when higher temperatures and increased evaporation significantly reduce watering efficiency.

These restrictions apply to all forms of outdoor irrigation, including automatic sprinkler systems, manual watering, and the use of potable water for landscaping purposes.

Supporting Efficient Water Use

Along with these guidelines, the City offers a variety of water conservation programs to help residents maintain healthy landscapes while using water more efficiently. Available programs include:

  • Free sprinkler evaluations, which provide customized watering schedules and system efficiency recommendations
  • Indoor water efficiency upgrades, including high-efficiency fixtures at no cost to qualifying residents
  • Landscape incentives, such as rebates for lawn replacement and water-wise landscaping options

These programs are designed to reduce water consumption, lower utility costs, and support long-term sustainability across the community.
