Ward 1 – Consuelo Lopez

Consuelo Lopez is a distinguished leader in educational administration. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration with a minor in Educational Law and an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah.  Her foundational education includes a B.A. in Business Administration and a B.S. Bachelor of Science degree from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, Tennessee.

Throughout her extensive career, Ms. Lopez has held significant positions within educational administration. Notably, she served as the President of a two-year tribal college, demonstrating exceptional leadership and strategic vision. 

Her experience also encompasses vital roles as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Vice President of Student Services, where she made substantial contributions to institutional development and student success. 

A proven grant writer, Ms. Lopez has a remarkable track record of securing funding, having raised millions in successful grant applications. 

Her commitment to community and education is further evidenced by her active involvement in various community organizations and college-related boards throughout her career, representing institutions at federal, state, local, and tribal levels.

Accomplishments include participation and development in accreditation processes. Strengths include strategic planning, leadership, budgets, and research.

Ms. Lopez desires to use the knowledge, leadership experience, and perspective gained throughout her career and community service to help guide the continued success of the City of Evans. She is bilingual and has worked with a diversity of people.

She is married to a 21 year Army veteran; having lived in Germany, Alaska, and in a myriad of states for his and her career.  They have owned their home in Ward 1 since 2002.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Ms. Lopez enjoys creative pursuits, including writing poetry, acrylic painting, and sewing.
